School and education
We cordially invite our young museum visitors to approach the man Egon Schiele through their own thoughts and questions. Our experienced art education team uses a great deal of empathy to create playful approaches, set exciting tasks and provide age-appropriate background information.
The use of various educational materials (auditory, visual, haptic) and the inclusion of different forms of art expression are intended to encourage pupils to find their own personal approach to Egon Schiele's life and work. We offer age-specific educational programmes for every school level in the form of educational activities (60 minutes) or educational activities including a studio visit (120 minutes).

That's me!  - portraits like Egon Schiele
1st-4th grade, 60 or 120 minutesOn an exciting journey through the museum, pupils learn about the life of the artist Egon Schiele. Pictures, sketches and drawings are recorded in a small souvenir folder at each ‘station in life’. The treasure chamber shows that Egon Schiele often painted himself. During the visit to the studio, we offer the pupils the opportunity to create colourful self-portraits on transparent film in a colourful cardboard frame.

In search of the secret picture
5th - 8th grade, 60 or 120 minutes
This educational activity is a playful approach to the life and work of Egon Schiele. The pupils slip into the role of detectives. One of Schiele's paintings has been stolen from the collection. The mysterious painting can only be recovered in exchange for various Schiele coins. In order to obtain them, we have to embark on a journey into Schiele's world. In the studio, the successful sleuths record their victory in a colourful group portrait. Coloured paper, scissors and glue will help us do this.

Places of memory
8th - 13th grade, 60 or 120 minutes
By creating a ‘living picture’, pupils are given the opportunity to engage intensively with the themes of the exhibition in a playful way. In dialogue, they work out what they think was the core message, the formative event at the respective place in Egon Schiele's life and implement this performatively. Personal ‘images of memory’ are at the centre of the creative section in the studio. Here, pupils are given the opportunity to capture personal images of memories using the collage technique.
